SRINAGAR: Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar has reportedly confirmed that 10 members of his family and four of his close associates were killed in an Indian missile strike on the group’s headquarters in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, according to media reports.
The strike, part of India’s military retaliation following the Pahalgam terror attack, reportedly targeted the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah complex in Bahawalpur, which is believed to serve as the operational base of the proscribed terror group.

A statement attributed to Azhar said the casualties included his elder sister and her husband, a nephew and his wife, another niece, and five children from his extended family. Additionally, one of Azhar’s long-time associates and his mother, along with two other close companions, were also reportedly killed in the strike.
The Indian government has not officially commented on the specific impact of the missile strikes, though top officials have indicated that the military action targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir as part of Operation Sindoor.
Media reports suggest this is India’s deepest military strike inside undisputed Pakistani territory since the 1971 war, underlining the government’s stated resolve to dismantle terror networks across the border.
The JeM has been responsible for several major terrorist attacks in India, including the 2019 Pulwama bombing. Masood Azhar remains a UN-designated global terrorist and continues to operate with alleged support from Pakistan’s deep state, according to Indian intelligence agencies.
