SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is set to experience a four-day wet spell starting Tuesday, with the possibility of the season’s most significant snowfall, the Meteorological Department (MeT) said.

The MeT has issued a yellow alert for February 25-26 across the region, while an orange alert has been issued for February 27 in both Jammu and Kashmir. On February 28, Jammu remains under an orange alert, while Kashmir has been placed under a yellow alert.
According to MeT Director Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, generally cloudy weather is expected throughout the period, with isolated heavy rain and snow. An active Western Disturbance is expected to impact the region, and snowfall is likely even in the plains of Kashmir.
Independent weather forecaster Aadil Maqbool said that higher reaches, including Sinthan Top, Peer Ki Gali, Razdan Top, Zojila Pass, Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Baltal, and Pahalgam, could witness very heavy snowfall. Heavy rainfall is expected in the plains of Jammu and Kashmir.
