Intense clashes between forces and civilian protesters erupted in Nowhatta area of Srinagar city after Friday prayers.
Reports reaching here said that soon after the Friday prayers were over, people, particularly youths, started marching to protest against the killing of civilians.
However, they were intercepted by a posse of police. The youth pelted stones on the forces which retaliated using teargas shelling.
The youths according to reports were raising anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
Clashes were going on when reports last came in.
