“I congratulate all 1236 candidate from all over the country who have qualified the prestigious UPSC exam and especially those eight successful candidates who have made it to the coveted list from Jammu & Kashmir. My heartfelt congratulations to Baseer-ul-Haq, Afaq Ahmad Giri, Chowdhary Mohammad Yasin, Prayati Sharma, Deeba Farhat, Athar Amir-ul-Shafi Khan, Irfan Hafiz and Ruveda Salam for cracking the UPSC exam. I also want to congratulate their families especially the proud parents for the coveted achievement of their children. I wish the successful candidates all the very best for their future and am sure they will go on to serve people with dedication and sincerity,” NC Working President Omar Abdullah said in a statement.

The NC Working President also lauded the hard-work of those successful candidates who had been affected by the September Floods and had still persevered to achieve their goals. “The stories of hard-work and dedication by these youngsters are inspiring. It is the duty of policy-makers to do everything necessary to facilitate the growth and empowerment of our youth and the trend of growing success in UPSC exams by J&K candidates is certainly a shot-in-the-arm for that cause,” Omar added.

The NC Working President lauded the fact that a 22 year old candidate, Athar Amir-ul-Shafi Khan from Devipora, Mattan had made it in the UPSC list of successful candidates at such a young age. “22 year old Athar’s success should be a beacon of inspiration for our youngsters. His success should inspire many teenagers, school students and college students to strive for excellence,” Omar further stated.

He also said it was equally important to encourage those who tried their best but could not make it to the UPSC list this year. “A lot of aspirants suffered in their studies because of the floods that struck the State in September. Despite all odds, candidates worked hard and showed dedication and commitment to achieve their goals. They should not be disheartened but should rather treat this as an opportunity that motivates them to work harder and never give in.”
