SRINAGAR: The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 International Fellowships, offering scholarships of up to 50,000 USD to women from around the world pursuing advanced academic and professional degrees.
The fellowship programme, aimed at advancing education and promoting global gender equity, invites applications from international women by September 30, 2025. Depending on the level of study, selected candidates will receive financial assistance of 20,000 USD for Master’s or First Professional Degrees, 25,000 USD for Doctoral Degrees, and 50,000 USD for Postdoctoral Research.
The funds are intended to support educational expenses, dependent child care, living costs, and travel to attend academic events such as conferences and seminars. Eligible study levels include Master’s programmes like JD, MFA, LLM, M Arch, and medical degrees such as MD and DDS. Research-based Doctoral degrees such as PhD or EdD and MFA programmes also qualify.
To be eligible, applicants must be women or identify as such, hold a degree equivalent to a US bachelor’s, and have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 in their highest degree. They must be admitted or enrolled in their first Master’s or professional/academic doctorate. If the applicant is studying outside her home country or the US, she must be a member of Graduate Women International and attend an institution eligible for US federal student aid.
Required documentation includes letters of recommendation, proof of academic qualifications and GPA, evidence of English proficiency, admission or enrolment confirmation, and translations of non-English documents. Membership proof for Graduate Women International is also needed where applicable.
