SRINAGAR: The Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2026 is inviting applications from international students to pursue PhD and Master’s programmes at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
Around 80 fully funded scholarships are offered to students applying for PhD and MSc or MPhil degree programmes. The deadline to apply for the programme is January 7, 2026.
Eligibility criteria specify that applicants must not be citizens of the United Kingdom and must be pursuing the mentioned courses at the university. Students who are currently studying at the University of Cambridge and wish to apply for new courses are also eligible for the scholarship.
Applicants will be evaluated based on evidence highlighting their academic qualifications, a strong explanation of their chosen course, their commitment to improving the lives of others, and their ability to demonstrate leadership qualities.
The benefits of the scholarship include full coverage of tuition fees, a maintenance stipend of £21,000 (approximately Rs 25,46,964), medical assistance, and travel and visa support. In addition, the scholarship offers academic development funding ranging from up to £500 (approximately Rs 60,635) to £2,000 (approximately Rs 2,42,509), depending on the duration of the course, to attend conferences and academic courses. It also provides a family allowance of up to £11,604 (approximately Rs 14,07,434) for one child and £16,504 (approximately Rs 20,01,225) for two or more children. Fieldwork budget, hardship funding and parental leave funding, where applicable, will also be provided.
The documents required include a personal statement of around 3,000 characters, three letters of recommendation, and a research proposal for PhD applicants.
