SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) is inviting online applications to fill 600 UT cadre posts of Accounts Assistant in the Finance Department on direct recruitment. The application submission window will be open from December 8, 2025, to January 6, 2026.

Applicants must be domiciled in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and possess a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority on or before the cut-off date, which is the last date for submission of online forms unless extended. The board has warned that the advertised number of posts may increase or decrease during the selection process, and the final selection list will be issued accordingly. The advertisement is subject to the outcome of any writ petition or other litigation.
Age will be reckoned as on January 1, 2025. The maximum age for open merit candidates is 40 years (born not before January 1, 1985 and not after January 1, 2007). Relaxations up to 43 years are provided for SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC, EWS and OBC categories where applicable. Physically challenged persons have a maximum age limit of 42 years; ex-servicemen have an upper limit of 48 years. Reservation and category-wise breakup of vacancies will apply as per the indent received from the Finance Department and the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act and rules as amended.
Detailed qualification criteria and category-wise breakup are set out in Annexure A to the notification. The board cautions that candidature will remain provisional until verification of original certificates at document verification. Candidates declaring equivalent qualifications must produce equivalence certificates when required. Any candidate who does not possess the prescribed qualification will be disqualified.
The written examination will be objective-type, multiple-choice questions set in English only. There will be negative marking equal to one-fourth of the marks allotted for each wrong answer. The syllabus and other details will be notified separately on the JKSSB website.
The application fee is Rs 600 for general candidates. Candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD categories will pay Rs 500. Fees must be paid online by net banking, credit or debit card. Applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected. Fees once paid will not be refunded or adjusted against any other examination.
The board will notify the date and centres for the examination on its website. Admit cards will be made available for download roughly one week before the examination. Candidates must bring the printout of the admit card, two recent passport-size colour photographs and an original valid photo identity card to the examination hall. The board has emphasised that no request for a change of centre will be entertained.
Persons with benchmark disabilities who are otherwise eligible may opt for the facility of a scribe and compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour. Such candidates must upload or furnish, as applicable, the certificate regarding physical limitation to write (Annexure B) and the letter of undertaking for using their own scribe (Annexure C). The scribe must not be a candidate for the same examination, must not be a relative, must hold a lower educational qualification than the candidate and must produce a valid ID at the time of examination. Candidates availing the scribe facility must report at least one hour before the scheduled start time.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and must produce originals and self-attested photocopies of academic certificates, domicile, category certificates and other documents legally valid on or before the cut-off date. Failure to appear for document verification or to furnish required originals will render a candidate ineligible for selection. No travel allowance or daily allowance will be paid for appearing in the written test or at document verification.
The board has warned that any candidate found indulging in malpractice or misconduct at any stage will be debarred from future examinations and may face penal action. JKSSB says it will take all steps necessary to ensure fairness, integrity and transparency in the selection process and reserves the right to issue further instructions at any stage.
Prospective applicants must apply online through the JKSSB portal and are advised to read the full advertisement and instructions carefully before applying. Examination dates, detailed syllabus, annexures and updates will be published on the official website.
