SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday conducted searches at the premises and houses of relatives and friends of a former District Mineral Officer (DMO) posted in Kathua.
“A secret verification conducted by the JK Anti-Corruption Bureau, based on a source report, revealed that Bodh Raj, son of Chuni Lal, resident of Nater Kothian, Muthi, Jammu, while posted as District Mineral Officer, Kathua, indulged in corrupt practices and acquired benami assets worth crores of rupees in the names of his family members and relatives. These assets are disproportionate to his known sources of income. Accordingly, FIR No. 08/2024 under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered on 24.08.2024 at Police Station ACB Central, J&K, Jammu, and investigation was initiated,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
The spokesperson further said that, during the investigation, evidence was collected indicating transactions worth lakhs of rupees in the accounts of close relatives and friends. The accused is alleged to have been assisted by them in parking money and making other investments.
“In order to recover incriminating documents and material relevant to the investigation, and given the apprehension that such documents or material may exist at these premises, search warrants were obtained from the competent Court of Law. Accordingly, searches were carried out at multiple locations in Jammu and Kathua,” the statement read. (KNO)
