SRINAGAR: The Indian government has reviewed the healthcare services provided to pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage. Two 100-bed hospitals located at Baltal and Chandanwari will now operate round the clock during the pilgrimage, The Tribune reported.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya assessed the medical care and other health facilities available at the base camp and along the route. The challenging geo-climatic conditions, particularly the high altitude, pose unique difficulties for the Yatra.

According to the Ministry of Health, as per The Tribune it has fully funded and supported the establishment of two 100-bed hospitals by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) along the Baltal and Chandanwari routes. These hospitals are now operational, staffed with specialist doctors and an independent trauma unit.

To ensure better emergency preparedness and understand disease patterns, a customized web-enabled real-time data collection module is being developed for the Yatra. This module will be integrated into the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme – Integrated Health Information Platform portal of the National Centre for Disease Control.

Additionally, the Ministry has issued guidelines to enhance awareness among the pilgrims, including dos and don’ts. The Yatra is scheduled to take place from July 1 to August 31.
