SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, directed the Labour and Animal Husbandry departments to accelerate the registration of service providers and ponies to meet the required targets before the Amarnath Yatra commences.
He also stressed the installation of signages at strategic locations to provide yatris with clear information regarding the availability of services and facilities during the pilgrimage.
Chairing a review meeting on Friday, the Div Com instructed officers to ensure timely completion of all ongoing developmental works at the base camps and en route to the Holy Cave. He underlined the importance of strengthening base camp capacities to handle potential weather-related contingencies.
To streamline pilgrim registration, he called for the establishment of RFID counters at the Nowgam and Anantnag railway stations, in addition to other designated points. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was directed to ensure all approach routes to the cave shrine are cleared of potholes.
Deputy Commissioners from Srinagar, Anantnag, Budgam, Ganderbal, and Bandipora, along with senior officials from KPDCL, PHE, FCS&CA, R&B, SMC, Health, Tourism, and development authorities of Sonmarg and Pahalgam, briefed the meeting on their departments’ preparations for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
Emphasising advance planning, the Div Com said every effort must be made to ensure the Yatra is conducted efficiently and safely, with robust services in place to support the pilgrims.
