SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting to assess preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and directed all stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination to guarantee a peaceful and successful pilgrimage.
Stressing on the importance of collaborative effort, the Lieutenant Governor instructed for unified planning and close coordination among the Civil Administration, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Intelligence agencies.
“The pilgrimage must be conducted in an atmosphere of safety, devotion and efficiency. All departments and forces must work in tandem to ensure the best arrangements for the yatris,” the LG said during the meeting.
The security review was attended by key officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Director General of Police J&K Nalin Prabhat; Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, GOC 15 Corps; ADGP CID J&K Nitish Kumar; ADG CRPF Rajesh Kumar; Special DG Coordination SJM Gillani; Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, and senior representatives from the Army, CRPF, Intelligence Bureau, and other agencies.
The LG reviewed the deployment strategies, response mechanisms, and functioning of the security grid in addition to contingency planning. Special emphasis was laid on foolproof arrangements, real-time coordination, and pre-emptive planning to manage both security and logistical challenges.
Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, CEO SASB and Principal Secretary to the LG, presented an overview of the ongoing preparations and measures aimed at improving pilgrim experience and infrastructure support throughout the Yatra route.
