SRINAGAR: Inspector General, Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu Frontier, D K Boora, stated on Friday that drone activity at the International Border has significantly declined due to advanced technology.
Speaking to media persons during a press conference on the occasion of the 60th Raising Day in Jammu, the IG BSF, said that the anti-drone system remains intact across the International Border. He added that the installation of advanced technology has considerably reduced drone incursions from across the border.
He further mentioned that advanced technology to counter infiltration along the border is effectively in place, with additional troops deployed in the Jammu Frontier as part of the winter security mechanism.
The IG highlighted that technical surveillance is being expanded and assured that the entire border area would soon be under comprehensive physical and technological monitoring. “The BSF is equipped with hi-tech weapons and cutting-edge technology along the borders,” he said.
On the issue of suspected Rohingya movement or settlement near the border, he clarified that there are no reports of illegal immigrant settlements near the border in the Jammu Frontier. He emphasised that the BSF continues to maintain a high degree of alertness and security along the International Border.
Addressing recovery operations and infiltration attempts this year, the IG stated that the BSF monitors approximately 192 km of the International Border with Pakistan and is also deployed alongside the Indian Army along the Line of Control.
“This year, the Jammu Frontier faced multiple challenges, including drone activities, smuggling attempts, and unprovoked firing. However, true to its tradition, the BSF successfully thwarted all adversarial efforts and foiled their nefarious designs,” he said.
He added that two Pakistani intruders were killed and two apprehended this year, while approximately 7.659 kg of narcotics were seized. —(KNO)
