Applications Invited for Commonwealth Professional Fellowship

   

SRINAGAR: The United Kingdom has announced applications for the fully funded Commonwealth Professional Fellowship for the year 2026, aimed at mid-career professionals from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. The Fellowship intends to strengthen the skills and knowledge of participants in their respective fields, thereby enhancing their capacity to contribute meaningfully to development in their home nations.

The deadline for submitting applications is August 22, 2025. The programme, which runs for a duration ranging from six weeks to three months, is scheduled to commence in February 2026.

Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive financial package that includes return airfare, visa application fees, a monthly living stipend, arrival allowance, and internal travel costs within the UK. Additional financial support is available for fellows with disabilities.

The Fellowship is open to individuals working in a range of sectors, including science and technology for development, strengthening health systems and capacity, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, global peace, security and governance, resilience and crisis response, as well as inclusion and access-related work.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of a listed Commonwealth country or have refugee status or be recognised as British Protected Persons. They must have a minimum of five years’ full-time relevant work experience and be currently employed. Two professional references are required, one of which must be from the applicant’s current employer unless they are self-employed.

Applicants must also provide transcripts of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, a list of up to 10 publications and prizes (if applicable), a detailed employment history outlining the relevance of each role to the Fellowship, and a 300-word statement on how their previous work aligns with the programme’s objectives. A scanned copy of the applicant’s passport or national identity card must also be included.

Eligible countries span across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, including India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Kenya, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Ghana, South Africa, Jamaica, and many others.
