BJP lawmakers in the house of elders created ruckus over the council secretariat deleting a resolution at the last moment. The resolution, BJP lawmaker Ramesh Arora said was seeking a debate in Chinese army “stealing away” Uranium deposits from Ladakh.

Arora said he was not going to speak against China but simply wanted to debate as how China is getting into J&K territory in Ladakh and taking away uranium. He claimed he had extensively studied the issue. He was carrying a number of Hindi books with him to the house.

Various BJP lawmakers supported his right to debate. Those supporting him included lawmakers from National Conference and Congress too.

They said they were supporting the lawmaker simply because it is important for them that a ousted resolution should not be deleted.

While Law Minister Ab Haq Khan asked the chairman if the house has the right to do it, members disagreed.

Chairman said that he has deleted the resolution for “lack of adequate details” in the response.

However, he said the issue can be taken up once enough details are available with the government.

Haq Khan, in the meanwhile, said that the house should avoid issues pertaining to the defence and the foreign affairs. Many lawmakers reacted to his seated staying that the house has routinely been talking about Pakistan.

In the pandemonium, BJP lawmaker Surinder Ambardar faced an interesting situation when he suggested the chairman that he should take up “Arora’s question” later, the chairman told Ambardar that before he protests, he should know that the issue was about a “resolution” and not a “question”.

After almost 15 minutes of ruckus, the house finally resumed routine when BJP lawmakers took the seats.
