SRINAGAR: Claiming that “BJP’s vote share and seat count experienced a surge in the recent Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (Kargil) election,” BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh said that Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir are imminent now that the delimitation process and voter list preparations are completed.

“Gupkar alliance, which suffered a defeat in the local bodies election, would encounter a similar fate in the Assembly polls,” Chugh said. “The election will proceed as scheduled. After decades of no delimitation, the Assembly constituencies have now been delimited, and the voter list is ready for submission to political parties for their objections. Consequently, the election will take place soon.”

Consequently, the election will take place soon,” Chugh informed the press.

Regarding the urban local body (ULB) polls, local bodies submitted 700 written complaints about discrepancies in ward and gram panchayat listings. Chugh said, “Our voting rights have been denied. The ward and gram panchayat formula in Kargil displays a certain bias and requires government rectification,” in response to opposition claims of government failure to hold long-anticipated polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

In response to another query about the Kargil polls, he mentioned that voter turnout increased significantly compared to the past, with the BJP securing two seats out of the 16 contested, an increase from the previous election’s one seat.
