Police issued second statement about the Baltal situation confirming “some civilians and policemen got injured in the incident.”

“Today morning a law and order situation arose because of some minor squabble between some people in Baltal Yatra camp. The situation has been brought under control. Some civilians and policemen got injured in the incident who have been discharged after being provided first aid from hospital, the police statement said.

The statement added and said, “However some tents and a few Langars caught fire. The fire was eventually brought under control due to the efforts of Fire Service Department and Police.”

Sources while informing Kashmir Life about the latest situation said that 59 persons were injured at all including 12 CRPF men, 9 Police men and rest civilians.

They added that 10 have been admitted at Baltal base Hospital, 25 were discharged after providing first aid, 11 injured are being treated at SKIMS and 1 in Bone & Joint hospital Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Governor NN Vohra has appealed for peace. According to a statement on being informed about a disharmonious incident between two Yatra Service Providers at the Baltal Yatra Camp,  Vohra, , who is also the Chairman, of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, asked the Chief Executive Officer of the Board,  Rakesh Kumar Gupta, to immediately proceed to the Camp and see that harmony is fully restored with the help of District Administration.

He also discussed the matter with the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, under whose direction the Divisional Commissioner (Kashmir),  Shailendra Kumar, and IGP (Kashmir)  Abdul Gani Mir, also rushed to Baltal. The Governor also spoke to the President of SABLO, the apex Langar Organization, Vijay Thakur, and urged him to ensure restoration of harmony, essential for the satisfactory progress of Yatra.
