SRINAGAR: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), has affirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been scattered like playing cards in the Kashmir Valley, and it has already forfeited its political space in the Jammu Province as well.

He added that it is more accurate to state that the BJP has lost its political ground and relevance across the entire Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory due to its anti-people policies.

The senior NC leader made these statements while addressing a meeting of the party’s functionaries in Katra, Reasi District. The meeting, chaired by District President Jagjeevan Lal, was part of a series of district meetings held by the National Conference across the Jammu region in preparation for the upcoming elections in J&K.

While discussing the BJP’s status and position in the Valley, Rattan Lal Gupta stated that the BJP had won only 3 out of 140 seats in the DDC polls in Kashmir, revealing the saffron party’s failure there. He pointed out that the BJP had promised a lot to the people of the Jammu province but delivered poorly on the ground.

Additionally, the party continued to follow anti-people policies, resulting in its loss of support not only in the Valley but also in the Jammu region. He emphasized that the BJP had betrayed the trust of the people in the region, leaving them feeling cheated.

Rattan Lal Gupta mentioned that both Jammu and Kashmir provinces are now strongholds of the National Conference, with people recognising the party’s achievements during its governance in the former J&K state. He expressed confidence in achieving unprecedented success in the upcoming ULB elections as well as the LAHDC polls in J&K and Ladakh UTs.

Earlier, Babu Jagjeevan Lal, District President of Reasi, who convened the meeting, informed the senior functionaries about the poor performance of both the Reasi and Katra Municipal Committees. He emphasised that the people are dissatisfied with the functioning of these municipal bodies.

Tariq Butt, District Secretary of Reasi, along with Ashok Mehta, Raj Kumar Sharma, and Gandarb Singh, Block Presidents, and Sher Singh, a senior NC leader, raised serious concerns over the deplorable condition of the holy towns Katra and Reasi, which receive millions of pilgrims every year.

Rattan Lal assured that the NC would develop Katra town with state-of-the-art modern amenities following international standards if the party is voted to power in the upcoming polls. He urged party workers to gear up for the elections and strive for the party’s unprecedented success.

Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary of Jammu, stressed the importance of unity and brotherhood, emphasizing the strengthening of secularism in J&K. He noted that winning the elections depended on identifying with the burning issues and concerns of the people.

Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu, was accompanied by Pardeep Bali, Provincial Secretary, Abdul Gani Teli, Chairman of the OBC Cell, Th. Yashvardhan Singh, Additional Spokesperson, and Rakesh Singh Raka, Vice President of the Central Zone.

Those present in the meeting included Ved Prakash, Deepak Attri Adv, Ram Prakash Suri, Charan Dass, Sheikh Anyatullah, Rovin Kumar, Rohil Sharma, and others.
