SRINAGAR: Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi visited Suchetgarh on Wednesday as part of a new initiative launched by the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, aimed at boosting tourism and showing solidarity with security forces and civilians.
Qureshi’s visit marks the launch of a celebrity engagement campaign designed to amplify the region’s message of peace, resilience, and hope. During her visit, the actress interacted with members of the Jammu and Katra Hotel and Restaurant Associations, who urged her to highlight Jammu’s scenic beauty, cultural richness, and hospitality on public platforms.
“Celebrity endorsements can help rebuild confidence in Jammu as a travel destination,” the stakeholders said, stressing the impact such visits can have on public perception.
Qureshi visited the family of the late Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri, Raj Kumar Thapa, who was recently killed in an attack. She extended her condolences and paid homage to his service and sacrifice.
The day concluded with a cultural event held at the Indo-Pak border in Suchetgarh, featuring traditional performances and an interaction with Army and BSF jawans as well as affected families. The programme aimed to honour the sacrifices of the armed forces and reinforce national unity.
Addressing the gathering, Huma Qureshi expressed her appreciation for the hospitality and spirit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “I will continue to encourage more artists and public figures to visit this beautiful region and experience its culture, warmth, and strength,” she said.
Her visit, while symbolic, reinforced the message that Jammu and Kashmir is ready to welcome tourists and is a safe and vibrant destination for cultural and recreational travel.
