Qazigund

In a video circulated on the internet, Krishan Ji Raina, a Kashmiri Pandit, claimed that he was stopped and beaten by CRPF personnel near Qazigund market where he had gone to get medicine for his wife. A local man who tried to intervene on Raina’s behalf was beaten too. Raina was saved only after local Muslims came to his rescue.

As soon as the news about this incident spread in the area, the locals staged protests and demanded action against the armed personnel. Police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Hazaratbal

On June 23, the head cleric of Dargah Hazratbal shrine, Ghulam Hassan Banday, passed away after a brief illness.

Son of late Abdul Rahim Banday, Ghulam Hassan was one of the custodians of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) at Dargah-Hazratbal shrine.

Gulmarg

Last week, robbers struck at J&K Cable Car Corporation’s office at Gulmarg and decamped with Rs 50 lakh cash. The CCTV footage shows some people moving around the location. Police have taken the footage and started an investigation into a case.

Mughal Road

In a tragic incident, eleven students of Kashish Computer Institute died and seven others injured when a Tempo they were travelling in fell into a 500 feet deep gorge on Mughal road in Shopian district.

Residents of Surankote, these students were on an excursion to Dobijan area in Shopian. This is the first accident on the historical Mughal road which involved so many casualties.

Mumbai

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan’s sister Sunaina Roshan has alleged that she is “living in hell” and her family is making her life unbearable because she is in love with a Muslim man.

Reports said her boyfriend is a Kashmiri journalist – Ruhail Amin, a north Kashmir resident who currently works with a news organization in Delhi. Sunaina said she met her boyfriend last year, and because she was in love with a Muslim guy, her father slapped her and told her the boy is a terrorist.

Social media users in Kashmir called out Roshans for their “hypocrisy”. A number of netizens even pointed out to Hrithik’s marriage with ex-wife, Suzanne Khan, who was also a Muslim, saying one family cannot have different standards for son and daughter.
