A joint meeting of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee chaired by the conglomerate’s chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was held at APHC Headquarters at Rajbagh on Thursday.
During the meeting, the amalgam held discussion on the curbs being placed on the peaceful activities of the resistance leadership, detentions and house arrests, raids, current political developments and the on-going resistance movement, a Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson said this evening.
Holding deliberations about “anti-Kashmir policies and designs of the Government of India and its partners in the state and plans to suppress the resistance leadership and people of Kashmir”, the APHC-m said, “this was being done to change the disputed nature of Jammu Kashmir.”
Stressing that these “attempts” would never work as Kashmir is an internationally-accepted dispute; the conglomerate said, “people cannot be forced to give up their just struggle by using oppressive and suppressive measures against them.”
During the meeting, it was stressed that the “local government in the name of having peace was deliberately placing curbs on the peaceful activities of the resistance leadership and the freedom-loving people of Kashmir, and thus adding further fuel to the fire”.
Condemning the arrest of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairperson, Muhammad Yasin Malik and continued house arrest of Hurriyat patriarch leader Syed Ali Geelani and detentions and house arrests of several other resistance leaders and workers, the APHC-m said, “these tactics would not yield any results and would in fact make the resistance leadership and resistance movement stronger.”
Meanwhile, the APHC-m spokesman while demanding an impartial probe into the mysterious killing of Mudasir Ahmad Rather, a student from Simthan, Bijbehara, who was studying at Chandigarh, said providing security to Kashmiri students studying in different states of India is the responsibility of the respective state governments.
Senior Hurriyat leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited Simthan, Bijbehara and expressed condolences and sympathy with the bereaved family while Mirwaiz Umar Farooq talked to the deceased youth’s father over phone, expressed his sympathies with him and condemned the killing.
