“There is no Assembly session taking place right now, so no bill is being passed at this stage,” Omar Abdullah told reporters in Aligarh.

“As far as the reservation issue is concerned, the Cabinet Sub-Committee has completed its report. That report will be tabled in the Cabinet,” he said, adding, “Cabinet meetings are held twice a month.”

He added that no Cabinet meeting has been held so far this month, but one is scheduled in the coming days. “Once the report is tabled, we will examine the recommendations and then decide on the next course of action,” he said.

On Tuesday, Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo, in a post on X, wrote, “The Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to examine the issue of reservations has drafted its report within the stipulated timeframe of six months. The report will be placed before the Cabinet when it meets.”

The minister’s post drew criticism, especially from students and the opposition, who demanded that the report and Cabinet meeting date be made public. (JKNS)
