Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Tuesday reviewed the stock position of rations and petroleum products in Kargil district.

Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Kargil, Kachoo Ahmad Khan, Legislators Haji Asgar Ali Karbali, Syed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi, Executive Councilors Mohammad Amir and Stanzin Sonam, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Joint Director Information, senior officers of department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Council Secretariat were present at the meeting.

Haji Anayat Ali urged the Minister for FCS&CA to provide additional quota of ration to the district to meet the local demand. He said the government will not allow any type of ration shortage in the district.

He also sought report from the Deputy Commissioner regarding the ration requirement so that the Department of FCS&CA can be accordingly asked to provide additional stocks. He said the provision for basic amenities to all, particularly those living in far flung and hilly areas, is the priority of the Government and every step will be taken to meet the local demands during harsh winters.

Speaking on the occasion, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali stated that there is no shortage of ration in the district and sufficient stocks have been provided.

The meeting was informed that 5518 MT of rice, 5518 MT of Atta, 916 MT of Sugar, 2233 KLs of Kerosene Oil, 1.97 lakh cylinders of LPG have been stocked in the district.

Responding to the demands, Zulfkar Ali said all the genuine issues will be resolved on priority. He also directed officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to take every possible step to overcome the problems faced by the residents of Kargil district. The Minister also took a detailed review of the stock and supply position of rations including Atta, Rice, Wheat, Sugar, Kerosene Oil, LPG and petroleum products.

During the meeting, legislators and councilors raised the issue of ration, petroleum, petrol pumps, adjustment of TSOs and re-examination of the scale of Kerosene oil quota under SRO-285. The Minister assured the representatives that their demands and issues will be looked.
