SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, held detailed discussions with Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Punya Salila Srivastava, on Wednesday, focusing on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving medical services across the Union Territory.
During the high-level meeting, both officials reviewed progress on centrally sponsored construction projects, the introduction of postgraduate specialisation courses (MD/MS, DM/MCH, and DNB) in new medical colleges, and proposals to increase MBBS intake by 50 seats in institutions that had applied.
The Chief Secretary expressed appreciation to the Union Health Ministry for expanding MBBS capacity in several medical colleges and called for further support in enhancing tertiary care in newly established Government Medical Colleges (GMCs).
He also urged the Ministry to expedite completion of AIIMS Awantipora and support the expansion of AIIMS Jammu, assuring full cooperation from the JK administration for all central health initiatives.
In response, the Union Health Secretary assured Dulloo of sympathetic consideration and timely action on all concerns raised.
