Referring to the confession statement of Ex IAS officer Wajahat Habib ullah as ‘’better late than never’’, Huriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said that Indian forces are using the rape as a weapon of war and unless the international bodies intervene, there is no immediate respite possible from this.
“Now it is not mere allegation and even the responsible persons of Indian administration have admitted,” said Geelani and adding that “the responsibility lies over the international forums to initiate investigations about the incidents of rapes from Kunan poshpora to Shopian, so that the culprits involved in this heinous crime are dealt with and victims get justice.”
In his telephonic message from Delhi, Geelani said that the people in India ,media and the civil societies had maintained indifference and dual standard over the incidents of rapes and human sufferings and added that this approach of theirs have made the claims of India being a democratic country, a mockery for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Modesty and chastity are same and valuable asset for a women folk ,whether she is a Damni in Delhi or Asiya and Nelofar from Kashmir. Those people in India with moral courage should come and exhibit their determination and help us to punish under law, those involved in rape incidents in Kashmir”, he said and added that the civil societies in India should come out with clear stand and shun their dogmatic approach.
Taking dig at the statement of Wajahat Habib Ullah regarding the Ex-army chief V K Singh, Geelani said that almost every high official after their retirement from their services issue such statements with the only aim to garner credibility, but it is the moment when they are helpless and can do nothing. “It is not only case of V K Singh, even Wajahat Habib Ullah in his tenure could have raised his voice against these rape incidents. But it is sorry to say that even the screams of Kunan poshpora and Chanpora victimized for no fault of their, fell over the deaf ears.”
Geelani said that now time has come for Wajahat Habib ullah to raise his voice because his conscience has made him to stand and added he should contribute his services to get the criminals penalised as per law. “It is easy for him as nobody will dare to charge him as an ISI agent,” the ailing leader said.
Castigating the international bodies for their criminal silence, Geelani said that if men in uniform in countries like Bosnia can be charged and punished for the war crimes, why an action is not initiated against the forces in Kashmir and why they enjoy the impunity.
Meanwhile, Geelani stated the confession statement of ‘Hindu terrorist’ Rajinder Chowdary an eye-opener and shocking revelation, said that in Jammu and Kashmir, in such incidents hundreds of innocent persons were killed and we had raised the queries as the incidents were of suspicious nature and there were every apprehensions that some Hindu terrorists and Indian agencies are involved.
Recalling the Chati Singh pora incident, Geelani said that dozens of members of Sikh community were assassinated in brutal manner and in a shrewd manner the militants were blamed to malign the on-going movement.
Reiterating his demand for impartial investigation of these incidents, Geelani said unless the fair trail and investigation is observed , the loss of precious lives will continue to happen.
