CM Omar Abdullah Launches e-SEHAT App to Improve Healthcare Access in JK

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today launched the e-SEHAT App, a digital healthcare platform designed to serve the citizens, medical professionals, and healthcare institutions of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Minister called for improvements to the app’s interface and recommended integrating private empanelled health institutions into the appointment system. He also directed authorities to conduct staff training workshops before launching public awareness campaigns about the app’s features and usage.

For regular oversight, the Chief Minister instructed weekly reviews by the Secretary of Health and Medical Education, monthly reviews by the Chief Secretary, and quarterly assessments by the Minister In-charge.

The launch event was attended by Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Dheeraj Gupta, Secretary Health and Medical Education Syed Abid Rashid, DG BISAG-N, principals of medical colleges, medical superintendents, and other officials.

During the event, Secretary Syed Abid Rashid presented an overview of the app, stating that it was developed to assist patients and attendants in accessing healthcare services in both public and private sectors across the Union Territory.

The e-SEHAT App provides services such as tele-diagnosis, first medical opinion, appointment bookings, tele-consultation, emergency care, and information on diagnostic and surgical services. It is accessible from home, offices, or hospitals and is intended for a wide range of users including the general public, healthcare workers, students, and medical aspirants.

Features include a symptom checker, health tracking tools, medication reminders, integration with wearable devices, and multilingual support. For professionals, the app offers access to Electronic Health Records, lab results, secure messaging, academic resources, and research tools. Students can access course details, hostel information, library services, and exchange programme options.

Additional services include ambulance coordination, helpline support, feedback options, and information on insurance schemes such as PMJAY, CGHS, and ECHS. The app also promotes training in Basic Life Support and CPR, along with continuing education opportunities.

The Secretary noted that the platform aims to enhance coordination among patients, healthcare providers, and insurers by improving access to healthcare resources and services.
