SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday laid the foundation stone of the Central Veterinary Hospital at Athwajan, Srinagar, a significant move aimed at strengthening the veterinary healthcare network across Jammu Kashmir.
The facility, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 11.91 crore, will function as a modern centre for veterinary treatment, diagnostics, and animal welfare. The project, being executed by the Public Works (RB) Department, is expected to cater to the growing needs of livestock owners and dairy farmers in the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Minister said the hospital would provide comprehensive services ranging from disease prevention to emergency care under one roof, benefitting livestock farmers and improving rural livelihoods.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to promoting the livestock and dairy sectors as key contributors to the rural economy and self-reliance in agriculture.
Omar Abdullah was accompanied by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardesi. Senior officials from the Agriculture Production Department and the Public Works Department were also present on the occasion.
