SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday tabled the Budget for 2026–27 in the Legislative Assembly, following which the House was adjourned for the day.
The presentation marked Abdullah’s second Budget as Chief Minister and Finance Minister. No further business was taken up after the Budget was introduced, and the Assembly was adjourned. As per the Assembly Secretariat, the House will reconvene on Saturday at 10 am for detailed discussions on the Budget, with members from both the ruling side and the opposition expected to participate in the debate.
Presenting the Budget, Omar Abdullah said the financial plan seeks to lay a firm foundation for sustainable growth, social cohesion and economic development in the Union Territory. He said the government remains committed to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a modern, progressive and economically dynamic region through investment, innovation and participatory governance.
Addressing the House, the Chief Minister said it was a privilege to present his second Budget as Finance Minister and to shoulder the responsibility of shaping the Union Territory’s financial future. He described the Budget as a roadmap for development, stating that it goes beyond figures and serves as a fiscal guide towards long-term economic growth, social harmony and sustainable prosperity.
