Directed by District Magistrate Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, the operation was conducted to ensure that clinical facilities adhere to regulations and maintain necessary infrastructure and expertise.

Led by Deputy Chief Medical Officer, District Health Officer, and Tehsildar, the inspection team focused on Hawal and Nowshera areas, discovering irregularities in certain clinics. Two clinics were promptly sealed for violating norms and guidelines during the inspection.

Dr Bhat emphasised the need for intensified inspections to guarantee that clinical establishments follow established protocols for the well-being of patients. He urged medical practitioners, chemists, and druggists in the private sector to adhere strictly to guidelines, norms, and medical ethics. The Health Department was directed to conduct frequent inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.

These interventions came a day after Dr Gulzar, a supposed medical professional in south Kashmir’s Anantnag town, was exposed as a fake doctor following a sting operation conducted by some media persons. The alleged quack had been claiming that he holds an MBBS and MD degree from PGI Chandigarh, was revealed to be a bogus gastroenterologist.

It has now been revealed that the imposter operated in private clinics across three districts, including Ganderbal, Anantnag, and Srinagar
