SRINAGAR: Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Nehru Post Doctoral Research Fellowship is providing an opportunity for training as well as research in the field of basic science, engineering, agriculture and medicine.

Candidates who have been pursuing PhD within 3-years of the award of PhD degree are eligible for the fellowship. Those who have submitted a thesis of PhD are also eligible. It is a 2-year scheme which can be extended in terms of outstanding performance.

The fellowship has been launched for the identification of young researchers having innovative ideas. CSIR intends to offer one hundred such fellowships every year to promising fresh PhD holders enabling them to work in CSIR laboratories with state-of-art R&D facilities.

The monthly grant of the fellowship includes Rs 65,000 plus a house rent allowance and a contingency grant of Rs 3 lakh per annum. The age of the candidate must be below 32 years. There is a relaxation of 5-years to SC, ST and PH candidates and 3-years relaxation for OBC, and NCL candidates. CSIR also considers foreign nationals for up to 20 per cent of positions every year.

The process of application is offline and accepted throughout the year, however, CSIR selects candidates after screening the applications twice a year in the month of June and December. Selection of candidates will be based on the presentation of the proposed research project followed by interview of shortlisted candidates by specially constituted Committees.

“Application for CSIR-Nehru Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship” should clearly be written on top of the envelope containing application form. The documents required to be attached to the application form include photograph on the main application form, Affidavit if you carry different name surnames in your certificates, Attested copy of School Leaving/High School/Secondary School Certificate (For date of birth), Attested copies of Mark Sheets/Grade Cards & Degrees, List of Publications, Reprints, Attested copies of Letter(s) of Acceptance for paper(s) accepted for publication & preprints, Attested copies of Award Letters for Fellowships -JRF/SRF/RA, Attested copies of Experience Certificates, Attested copy of Release Order from your last employer, No Objection Certificate (NOC) from current employer, Undertaking for resignation from service, if selected, Detailed Research Proposal and Testimonials from 2 Referees.
