Normal life remained affected on 101 day of uprising in valley. However, there was brisk movement of private and government vehicles in Lal, Chowk, Batamaloo, Jawahar Nagar, Sanat Nagar areas on Monday.
Early today, two passenger Sumos were set ablaze near Fruit Mandi Crossing in Parimpora. These vehicles were carrying passengers from Kupwara to Srinagar.
Following the incident, police cracked down on Parimpora areas and arrested many youths. Locals alleged that the mein in uniform resorted to “operation ransacking”. “They imposed curfew and fired tear gas shells,” the locals said.
All the shops were completely closed while as public transport remained off the roads.
North Kashmir’s Baramulla district remained under siege after forces launched house-to-house searches. Reports said that at least thirty five persons were arrested by men in uniform from Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and police.
During wee hours today, five rifles were snatched from forces person el in Islamabad area of South Kashmir. Security was tightened and heavy deployment of forces could be seen on the roads in the area.
Shopian also remained deserted as locals had called Shopian ‘Chalo’. Restrictions were imposed in the town and huge forces personnel were deployed to thwart any mass movement of people.
Reports said that Budgam areas and towns also remained shut and all the commercial activities remains suspended in district.
Reports from Bandipora said that forces lobbed tear gas shells in Nussu area while as youths erupted in Ashtango area of the district.
In the evening, all the shops opened following the resistance leadership calendar.
For most of these 100 days the life remained almost frozen, with state government imposing curfew restrictions and the strikes sponsored by the separatists. Normally life would be visible only during limited hours when the resistance leaders would offer some relaxation. Initially, the government had interrupted the relaxation hours.
In these 100 days schools, businesses, manufacturing and the offices remained cortically impacted.
Kashmir is on boil since the death of Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016. At least 94 civilians have been killed and over 15000 others have been injured while over 7000 persons have been jailed many of whom were released on bails over 500 have been slapped with Public Safety Act (PSA).
Current uprising is spearheaded by pro-resistance leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik who have been arrested.
