J&K police on Friday evening issued a statement detailing today’s situation. The statement is being reproduced here verbatim
Except for few minor stone pelting incidents in Pulwama, Kulgam, Awantipora and Bandipora, overall situation across the valley remained peaceful and under control.
During the day normal life was observed generally in the valley. Vehicles were seen plying on city roads as well as in main towns and on the inter-district roads.
The shops/vendors in parts of Srinagar city and other towns were also seen doing their business.
Last evening, miscreants tried to set on fire Boys Middle School Asthan Mohallah, Naid Khai in District Bandipora. Fire services and police immediately reached to the spot and brought fire under control at the initial stage, with the result minor damage occurred to the building and records of the school. A case FIR number 152/16 under section 436, 511 RPC was registered in police station Sumbal and miscreants involved in this incident are being identified.
Necessary security deployment was made in some vulnerable points in Srinagar and also in main towns of the valley to prevent any possible untoward incident disturbing normal life and smooth flow of traffic.
The statement added
A lady died in a road accident in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
A motorcycle hit and injured a lady identified as Gulshana, wife of Mushtaq Ahmed Naik, resident of Pinglena at Pahoo, Pulwama.
The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura where she succumbed to her injuries.
03 Structures Damaged In Fire
Two shops and a cowshed were damaged in three separate fire incidents in Central Kashmir.
Fire broke out in a shop belonging to Altaf Ahmed Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad, resident of Namtahall Chadoora at Main Market Chadoora, in Budgam, resulting in complete damage to the shop.
Meanwhile, fire broke out in a cowshed belonging to Mohammad Rajab Teli, son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Hayatpora, Budgam, resulting in partial damaged to the cowshed.
In another incident, fire broke out in a shop belonging to Zahoor Ahmed Chota, son of Mohammad Shafi, resident of New Colony Lal Bazaar at Bus Stand Chowk Lal Bazaar in Srinagar District, resulting in complete damaged to the shop.
The fire was brought under control with the help of fire tender and locals.
