#Day124: DHSK Imparting Medical Emergency Training To Srinagar Airport Staffers

Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) and Airport Authorities of India (AAI) on Wednesday started a week long BLS and screening program.

Continuing with its efforts to strengthen the medical emergency services, Kashmir Skill and Simulation Center (KSSC) under the aegis of DHSK in collaboration with AAI, Srinagar started a week long Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and Awareness-cum-screening programme at Srinagar International Airport from today, DHSK said in a statement issued this afternoon.

“Keeping in view the strategic importance of airport and knowing the fact that the employees working at the airport are the first responders to any disaster it was deliberated upon that imparting training at airport is of utmost need,” the statement said, “the significance of this training will be that it will be based on current global protocols using Simulation Methodology.”

“The trainees will include the staff of various airlines, concessioners and the employees of ground handler agencies including J& K Police and CRPF staff deployed there,” the DHSK informed adding that it was for the second time that such advanced training has been imparted at the airport.

The event was inaugurated by Regional Executive Director (NR) Rakesh Kalra, AAI, Dr Saleem-Ur- Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir, SSP (AHJ), Sharad Kumar (Airport Director, Srinagar), Manzoor Dalal, while as Durga Prasad (DG, CRPF); Atul Karwal (IG, CRPF) graced the occasion.

The Master trainers/organisers included Dr Abdul Rashid Parra, Dr Iqbal Fateh Khan, Dr Manzoor Kadri, Dr Danish Malik, Dr Arshad Rafi, Dr Ijtaba Shafi and Mohammadd Shafi.

Moreover, the Division of Epidemiology and Public Health (DHSK) team, headed by Dr Rehana Kouser, Epidemiologist Kashmir started awareness cum screening programme and in that context blood sugar, blood pressure, weight of the employees is being measured.

Oral cancer screening and counselling services are being provided to the employees also.
