To further improve the patient care and handling of emergencies in present circumstances Director Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) Dr Saleem ur Rehman Thursday chaired a meeting of Medical Superintendents of District Hospitals at Public Health Building, Barzulla wherein the health care services being delivered in present situation was discussed threadbare.
“Detailed health review of all those hospitals was deliberated upon wherein the patient load during the present conditions was the most,” a statement issued by the DHSK said this afternoon.
The statement said that DHSK directed all the Medical Superintendents to follow already issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which have been framed keeping the situation into consideration, in letter and spirit.
“The SOPs are very important to be abided while delivering health care during medical emergencies and such interventions have helped the hospitals in handling the medical emergencies to a greater extent,” Dr Saleem told the MS meeting.
The statement said that Medical Superintendent of Hospitals apprised DHSK about various issues pertained to the hospitals that need to be addressed.
Director Health Services, Kashmir assured of all support from the Directorate level to resolve the same at the earliest, it added.
“Moreover, a detailed deliberation upon SOPs, Disaster Management and Bio-Medical Waste Management under the ambit of District Health Administrators was discussed upon and ways to improve the existing structure of such plans. DHSK directed them to work on these significant issues and come up with a detailed action plan for enhanced performance,” the statement informed.
At the end, the statement said, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman appreciated and thanked all the administrators and their respective staff for working with such dedication in peripheries.
“It was only possible by the dedicated work of health personnel of the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir that till date since the inception of current situation, around 83% of the total injured patients have been treated at peripheral hospitals alone. Furthermore he directed them to continue the work with same zeal and dedication such that needy patients are being treated at their doorsteps,” the statement concluded.
