Continuing its “operation ransacking”, police and CRPF men attacked a planned pro-freedom rally in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports reaching here said that people of Kreeri Saloosa had planned a rally today but forces raided the village and set ablaze tents erected to accommodate people. The Public Addressing system which was set on the stage too was damaged.

The rally was to commence after congregational Friday prayers in Eidgah Saloosa.

Local sources said that forces damaged residential houses as well. “Forces fired tear gas canisters and pellets as well when peopple reacted to their actions,” the sources added.

Meanwhile, reports and eye witnesses said that hundreds of people assembled at Jamia masjid Sopore and took out a pro-freedom.

Forces including police and CRPF men fired teargas smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters.

Reports said that clashes erupted in Warpora, Nowpora and other areas of Sopore town.

A youth from Warpora, identified as Danish Ahmad, was hit by pellets in both eyes and was referred to Srinagar.

Meanwhile, forces raided Nowpora Sopore and arrested two elders. The duo was identified as Saifuddin Yatoo (65) and Haji Mohammad Ramzan Dar (80).
