Hundreds of students on Saturday held anti-examination protests in Srinagar.
Reports reaching here said that hundreds of students marched from Sozaith, Narbal and adjoining areas towards raising pro-freedom and anti-examination protests.
J&K Government has announced that it will hold class tenth and twelfth examination in November, however, students across Kashmir have been holding anti-government protests seeking resolution of Kashmir first. “Ink and blood cannot flow together,” students have said referring to bloodshed in valley since July 09, 2016 wherein at least 94 civilians have been killed while over 15000 others have been injured in forces action. Thousands others have been injured.
“We are holding a peaceful demonstration against the announcement of examination,” said a student part of the protest demonstration on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway at Laway Pora in the West of summer capital. “How can we sit in exams when our brothers and sisters are being killed and maimed?”
However, police reached the spot and cleared one side of the highway which connects North Kashmir with the rest of J&K. Raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, the students are holding a protest sit-in demonstration on the left tube of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway near Syed Ahmad Shah Kirmani (RA) shrine, 14 KM away from Lal Chowk.
Meanwhile, reports said that scores of students held anti-examination and pro-freedom protests in Chanapora area of the summer capital.
The students held placards reading: “Ready to Sacrifice Future for Kashmir”; “Release Our Teachers”; “Release Students”.
Kashmir is witnessing anti-establishment uprising triggered by the death of popular militant commander Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016. At least 94 civilians have been killed while over 15000 others have been injured in the uprising which has entered fourth month. Thousands of protestors have been jailed, most of them are youths, many of whom have been bailed out. At least 489 have been booked under notorious Public Safety Act.
