SRINAGAR: The Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Kumar Choudhary has assured the Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) of the early implementation of the Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme for engineers. This assurance came during an on-spot inspection and an interactive session held at the Chief Office of the Mechanical and Hospital Engineering Department (M&HED) at Shalteng today.
The ACP scheme, a key demand of the engineering community, was described by the Deputy Chief Minister as a pressing issue that would be addressed swiftly. During his visit, he inspected manpower, machinery, and the Provincial Snow Clearance Control Room, marking the first-ever interactive session with the Mechanical Engineering fraternity.
The Deputy Chief Minister lauded the contributions of engineers, particularly those in the Mechanical Engineering wing, in maintaining essential public services. He highlighted their role in ensuring road connectivity under the Public Works Department (R&B), water supply in the Jal Shakti Department, urban infrastructure in Housing and Urban Development, and hospital services.
The President of the Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) expressed gratitude for the Deputy Chief Minister’s initiative, describing it as a crucial step in bridging communication and addressing the challenges faced by engineers.
In addition to promising swift action on the ACP scheme, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasised the need for the optimal utilisation of mechanical engineering expertise for efficient and sustainable public service delivery in the future.
The visit also included the unveiling of the JKMEGA 2025 Wall Calendar, showcasing the diverse contributions of Mechanical Engineers to society.
