Ghulam Mohammad Khan, the frail old man who was seriously injured in police action on November 2, outside his 90-Ft house has succumbed to his injuries. For most of the last fortnight, Khan was in the intensive care unit of SKIMS, hospital sources said.

“He passed away at around 6 am and hid body was given to his family at around 8:30 am,” hospital sources said.

Khan, a resident of Ellahibagh locality, had barely come out of his residence on November 2, when a tear-smoke shell hit his head. He was immediately driven to the hospital where he was admitted in the intensive care unit.

His family has alleged from day one that there were no protests in the area and police action was completely unwarranted. He was sitting outside his home with some of his friends when a gypsy stopped and fired a tear smoke shell.

The shelling on 90-Ft coincided with police fighting pitched battles with the residents in Anchar belt. Khan was standing near the Ellihibagh crossing where he was hit. The same day when he was admitted to the hospital, doctors managing him said Khan had fixed dilated pupil and had seriously damaged his brain.

Khan was a former president of Secretariat Employees Union. Police had already registered a case in Khan’s injury case.
