SRINAGAR: With snowfall predicted between January 4-6, the Srinagar administration and the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) have initiated measures to address potential disruptions and ensure swift responses to emergencies.
The Meteorological Department’s advisory has prompted the Chief Engineer (Distribution), KPDCL, to issue a circular emphasising preparedness for power outages. The circular outlines measures for uninterrupted power supply and quick restoration during potential outages.
“Subordinate offices have been directed to deploy sufficient field staff in areas that experienced severe disruptions last winter. Additionally, adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the restoration process is mandatory,” the circular stated. The circular also called for continuous communication with the Nodal Officer, with hourly updates on the status of power feeders to ensure efficient coordination.
Simultaneously, the Srinagar district administration has established a 24/7 District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) to respond promptly to grievances during the winter season. The DEOC will address emergency situations and ensure the availability of essential services.
