SRINAGAR: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Friday urged the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students in Iran following Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.
He said families of students were anxious and called for immediate steps to ensure their well-being. “Every step must be taken to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students studying in Iran,” Abdullah said.
Calling for restraint, he stressed the need for dialogue to avoid further escalation. “Both sides must avoid further provocation and use diplomatic channels to de-escalate,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday urged the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to take urgent steps to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students stranded in Iran.
In a post on X, Omar wrote: “Requesting @MEAIndia to urgently ensure the safety and well-being of Kashmiri students currently stuck in Iran. Their families are deeply worried, and we stand with them in this difficult time. Every step must be taken to safeguard our students. @DrSJaishankar.”
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs said India was “deeply concerned” over the developments and was “closely monitoring” the situation.
