Established in 1998 by Muslim Welfare Society, the J&K Yateem Khanah (Raahat Manzil), is house to 530 male orphans from across the state.

Housed in three hostel buildings, the trust runs a Welfare Educational Institute, a charitable Higher Secondary School and a Technical Institute. In this institute boys are taught how to do cutting and knitting apart from other things. For this purpose nine craft centers were set-up across Srinagar.

The organization provides monthly financial assistance to over 700 widows, 200 handicapped persons and around 200 orphan girls.

In 2003, Gulshan-e-Banaat became first all girls orphanage in Kashmir. It is located in Alamdar Bagh Colony of Gopalora, Chadoora, Budgam. At present 120 orphan girls are enrolled in the Banaat institute managed by J&K Yateem Trust.

The trust runs a Higher Secondary School with all modern facilities, where both religious and modern education is provided to these orphans. After these students clear Class 10 exams, they are sent to their respective homes where they continue their education and help their families earn livelihood. The trust also provides financial assistance to these girls when they get married.
