Responding to a query from legislator Ali Mohammad Dar, Choudhary confirmed that the demarcation would be carried out through the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office. He further stated that a recommendation from the MLA of the Chadoora constituency regarding the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the first phase of the Srinagar-Charar-i-Sharief-Yousmarg road expansion—covering a 12-kilometre stretch from Natipora to Chadoora—is currently under examination.

The Deputy Chief Minister also revealed that the 20.8-kilometre Chadoora-Kandajan route via Charar-e-Sharief has been proposed as a spur to National Highway-444. Currently an intermediate lane, the road is planned for upgradation to a two-lane route with paved shoulders, subject to approval from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India.

Additionally, the government has handed over the 11-kilometre Kandajan-Yousmarg road—part of NH-701A, which connects Surankote, Shopian, Yousmarg, Doodhpathri, and Magam—to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for maintenance and further upgrades.

The announcements come as part of the government’s broader efforts to improve road connectivity and infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in areas of tourism and strategic importance.
