The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed a court in Baramulla to expedite the trial in the Gulmarg land scam involving vesting of ownership rights on some persons in respect of the properties situated at Gulmarg, reports said.

These directions were issued Wednesday by a Division Bench of Justices Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Ali Mohammad Magrey, which had recalled the record related to the land scam from the trial court concerned in Baramulla, tribuneindia reported.

“In view of the submission made by the Advocate General, the record of the trial court was called for. Its perusal revealed that the learned trial judge has observed that he will proceed in the matter on the basis of material produced before him by the investigating agency,” the High Court said in its orders on Monday.

The case is pending before the Sessions Judge, Baramulla, who is also designated as the Special Judge Anti-Corruption.

“Be that as it may, Registry (is directed) to return the record to the trial court forthwith. The trial court to expeditiously proceed in the matter in accordance with law,” the High Court further said while directing the trial court to speed up the proceedings in the case.

“Advocate General submitted that a criminal case, which is pending on the files of the Sessions Judge (Special Judge Anti-Corruption), an order has been passed, where under Chief Secretary has been asked as to what decision he has taken in the matter,” the High Court had observed in its earlier orders on October 18, this year.
