SRINAGAR: The Government Boys High School Gutlibagh was today renamed after Sakhi Akbar, an Assistant Sub Inspector, who fell in the line of duty, a government spokesman in Srinagar said.

“The School has been renamed after the Martyr Shaheed ASI, Sakhi Akbar in pursuance to the directions of the Government which has taken a unique initiative of paying tributes to the Martyrs by naming the Government Schools, Colleges and Roads etc. in their names,” the spokesman said while detailing that a special function was held on the occasion.

The special function was attended by the family members of Sakhi Akbar, DDC Chairperson and the entire district’s police and civilian administration. Sarpanch, CEO and other speakers also threw light on the life of Sakhi Akbar and described him as a true gentleman who was always ready to sacrifice his life for the dignity and integrity of the nation.
