SRINAGAR: Hot weather conditions persisted across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, with most places in the Kashmir Valley recording maximum temperatures between 5°C and 6°C above normal, according to data compiled by Kashmir Weather.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius, which was 5.6 degrees above normal, while Kupwara emerged as the hottest place in the Valley at 35.4 degrees Celsius, 5.4 degrees above normal.
Qazigund registered 33.4 degrees Celsius, 5.9 degrees above normal, the highest positive departure from normal among the Valley stations. Kokernag recorded 33.0 degrees Celsius, 5.7 degrees above normal, while the tourist resort of Pahalgam settled at 29.6 degrees Celsius, 4.9 degrees above normal. Gulmarg, the Valley’s coolest station, recorded a maximum of 26.0 degrees Celsius, which was still 5.5 degrees above normal.
In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 36.3 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees above normal.
Banihal registered 31.3 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above normal, while Bhaderwah recorded 32.7 degrees Celsius, 2.3 degrees above normal. Batote recorded 28.7 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees above normal, and Katra registered 32.8 degrees Celsius, which was 0.1 degree below normal.
The data indicates that while temperatures in the Jammu region remained close to seasonal averages, the Kashmir Valley continued to experience significantly above-normal daytime temperatures, with departures exceeding 5 degrees Celsius at most weather stations.
