SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called upon IIM Jammu to develop distinctive ideas, strengthen research on border economies and frontier development, and ensure that its graduates contribute to building enterprises and solutions in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Addressing the 10th anniversary celebrations of IIM Jammu, Sinha highlighted the institute’s growth from its initial 56-student cohort and temporary campus on Canal Road to an internationally engaged business school.
The Lieutenant Governor said the institute’s journey over the past decade had been marked by “courage and conviction”, noting its AMBA and EFMD accreditations and partnerships with institutions across several countries.
He congratulated the faculty, students, alumni and staff of IIM Jammu on completing 10 years and urged them to maintain the same level of ambition in shaping the institute’s next decade.
Sinha asked the institute to develop its own bold and distinctive academic and research priorities and use Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh as living case studies for management education.
He also stressed the need to orient research towards the challenges and opportunities of border economies and frontier development.
The Lieutenant Governor further called upon the institute to ensure that its graduates move beyond academic learning and create something tangible before completing their studies.
He said IIM Jammu had emerged as one of the country’s dynamic and internationally connected business schools and encouraged its faculty, students and alumni to build on the institution’s achievements over the next decade.
