Speaking during the 77th Army Day celebrations held in Pune, General Dwivedi highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a significant reduction in violence due to the persistent efforts of security forces. “The peaceful completion of key events, including elections and the religious pilgrimage, clearly indicates positive changes in the region,” he said.

He added that stringent efforts by the security forces in the hinterland have played a crucial role in reducing violence and fostering a more stable environment in the union territory.

The Army Chief also discussed India’s broader security concerns along its northern borders, noting that while the situation remains sensitive, the Indian Army is fully prepared to address any challenges that may arise. “We are ready to tackle any kind of situation,” he assured.

Regarding the western borders, General Dwivedi remarked that the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) has been maintained, however, infiltration attempts persist.

During the event, the Army Chief honoured the families of soldiers who were posthumously awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry) for their bravery. He paid tribute to their sacrifices in the service of the nation. (KNO)
