India’s Global Anti-Terror Outreach, First All-Party Delegation Leaving for the Middle East

SRINAGAR: India will begin a major international diplomatic campaign today to counter global narratives on terrorism in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. As part of this initiative, seven all-party delegations will visit 32 countries over the next four days to present India’s unified stance on terrorism and its origins.

The outreach begins with the first delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, which will travel to the United Arab Emirates, Congo, Sierra Leone and Liberia. The remaining six delegations are scheduled to depart between May 22 and May 25.

This unprecedented move, titled Operation Sindoor Diplomatic Outreach, is designed to highlight India’s position on terrorism, with a clear message that all terror networks, direct or indirect, lead to Pakistan. The delegations will meet foreign officials, elected representatives and policymakers to build international consensus and convey India’s zero-tolerance stance.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed the delegations today, clarifying that recent steps such as the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty were part of a deliberate strategic response, not impulsive decisions.

The campaign spans continents. On May 22, Sanjay Kumar Jha of the JD(U) will lead a team to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. Also departing that day, DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will visit Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia and Spain.

On May 23, Baijayant Panda of the BJP will travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Algeria. On May 24, NCP’s Supriya Sule will head to Qatar, South Africa, Ethiopia and Egypt.

Two delegations will depart on May 25: Shashi Tharoor of the Congress will visit the US, Brazil, Colombia, Guyana and Panama, while BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad will travel to France, Italy, Denmark, the UK, Belgium and Germany.

The government said the visits will reflect India’s bipartisan unity on the issue of terrorism and its commitment to building a global consensus against those who sponsor, shield or justify acts of terror.
