The flagship BA programme in International Studies and Global Politics aims to cater to the escalating demand for education in the broader field of international relations, geopolitics, and international political economy, spurred by ongoing global crises such as conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine, pandemics, and climate change.

The four-year undergraduate programme, spanning eight semesters, offers students multiple exit-entry options at the end of each year, enabling them to obtain a UG Certificate, UG Diploma, or UG Degree, as per the National Education Policy of 2020. Additionally, students interested in further studies have the opportunity to pursue an honors degree or an honors degree with research in international studies by completing a fourth year and submitting a research project/dissertation.

The curriculum, according to Jamia faculty, is meticulously crafted to provide comprehensive insights into various aspects of world politics, encompassing conventional courses such as international peace, political economy, and international bodies, as well as specialised topics including defense and security, maritime and Himalayan geopolitics, cyberspace security, and global health.

The programme delves into the intricacies of India’s foreign policy and international relations, along with all area studies of international relations spanning regions like West Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Europe.

Embracing interdisciplinary and holistic approaches outlined in the NEP 2020, the curriculum incorporates practical insights from eminent diplomats as Professors of Practice. It also explores the complex relationship between religion, culture, and world politics, while emphasising the significance of India’s civilizational legacy in shaping global order.

The inaugural batch will comprise sixty students, with an annual tuition fee of Rs 50,000. Graduates of the programme are poised to pursue diverse career paths in think tanks, journalism, policymaking, research, bureaucracy, international organizations, and corporate sectors requiring geopolitical analysis.
