SRINAGAR: As a weak Western Disturbance (WD) affected Jammu and Kashmir, some higher reaches witnessed fresh snowfall while the plains of the valley experienced rainfall on Wednesday.

Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora area and adjacent places received fresh snowfall. However, rain lashed the plains of Kashmir, including Srinagar, in the later afternoon hours, resulting in a drop in temperature.

Officials from the Meteorological Department (MeT) reported that the maximum temperature in Srinagar settled at 17.1 degrees Celsius today, compared to yesterday’s 21.4 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature also decreased in other areas, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Qazigund, Kokernag, Kupwara, and other regions.

Meanwhile, Director of MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, stated that weather conditions are expected to improve by tomorrow, with generally dry weather forecasted for April 4th.

Furthermore, he mentioned that partly cloudy weather with light rain and snow is expected at isolated places on April 5th.

According to the forecast, the weather is expected to remain generally dry from April 6th to April 10th.

The Meteorological department has also issued an advisory for farmers, advising them to resume farm operations except on April 3rd and April 5th. (KNO)
