SRINAGAR: In a significant move towards fostering sustainability and reducing carbon footprint, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and “Go Green” initiative, made a notable donation to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
On Tuesday, the bank handed over two electric carts and four metal barricades to NIT Srinagar, marking a milestone in promoting eco-friendly practices within the campus premises. Shabir Ahmad Bhat, the Zonal Head of Srinagar, spearheaded the donation ceremony by presenting the e-vehicles to Prof A Ravinder Nath, the Director of NIT Srinagar.
The event witnessed the presence of eminent personalities from both the banking and academic sectors. Institute’s Registrar, Prof Atikur Rahman, Dean Students Welfare Prof Abdul Liman, along with other dignitaries, graced the occasion, emphasizing the importance of such collaborative endeavors in fostering a sustainable environment.
Expressing his gratitude, Prof A Ravinder Nath highlighted the significance of the donation, stating that the electric carts would play a pivotal role in curbing carbon emissions and alleviating traffic congestion within the campus premises. He also urged the bank to conduct awareness workshops for students, enabling them to leverage various schemes and educational loans.
Furthermore, Director Nath called upon the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to actively sponsor workshops, seminars, and facilities aimed at enhancing community engagement and supporting educational pursuits.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabir Ahmad Bhat reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives aligned with the nation’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2070.
He emphasized that the CSR initiatives of the bank are geared towards fostering sustainable growth and benefitting society at large.
Asmat Ara, the Cluster Head, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the bank’s proactive approach towards organizing awareness events focused on educational loans and other student-centric schemes at NIT Srinagar.
